Spring Break
The hints of Spring are all around us and Spring Break will soon be under way for many of our school age youth. Not all families are planning a fun warm weather get away this year or any years in the past. Imagine being a young person that may really rely on school for not only a safe place, but for your connections to friends, teachers, breakfast and lunch. Forty percent of our local families are struggling financially and are food insecure. Food insecurity is a real category, and it means that families must make the hard decisions to pay a utility bill or car payment before they can purchase food for their families. We at Step Up Northern Michigan do our best to provide access to quality food to our At-Risk youth in our area and we thank all of our wonderful year- round supporters! Thank you!
Expanding our reach to West Senior High School
We feel honored to be able to expand our reach to the students of West Senior High School. Hunger is a definite distraction to learning ! Thanks to the staff and students for helping unload as well!

We strive to make the holidays special for each of these students and apparently we were successful. This inspires us to continue to support these students , who sometimes feel like the odds are against them.

Kicking off the Holiday Basket Program for 2021
Thanks to a generous donor we were able to begin shopping for the students at Traverse City High school. Each year we provide each student with a basket filled with teen friendly items. Many times this basket is the only gift they receive. If you would like to help this season please let us know. Thank you!
