The hints of Spring are all around us and Spring Break will soon be under way for many of our school age youth. Not all families are planning a fun warm weather get away this year or any years in the past. Imagine being a young person that may really rely on school for not only a safe place, but for your connections to friends, teachers, breakfast and lunch. Forty percent of our local families are struggling financially and are food insecure. Food insecurity is a real category, and it means that families must make the hard decisions to pay a utility bill or car payment before they can purchase food for their families. We at Step Up Northern Michigan do our best to provide access to quality food to our At-Risk youth in our area and we thank all of our wonderful year- round supporters! Thank you!
